Interster

TV series, 1982-1986

Children's series following the adventures of the Interster crew in their quest to protect Earth from the Krokons. Although the war between Earth and Krokon is officially over, Krokon crown prince Karnati has not given up his dream of destroying Earth and conquering the universe. It is up to Interster, a secret organisation masquerading as an interplanetary transportation company, to keep the prince at bay. It's not an easy task, especially when Karnati is helped by the rich and corrupt Dr. Gorman, the most powerful trader in unique metals and minerals in the universe, who is always willing to betray his own people for the right price. But Interster is not aware of Gorman's duplicity and sees him as a friend and benefactor. Interster is headed by Professor Zed, and his two most trusted pilots are Captain Buks de la Rey and Lieutenant Adam Buys. The control room is manned by Lida.

Interster was made with electronic puppets that were similar but more advanced than Gerry Anderson's supermarionation puppets. By the time Interster was made, many of Anderson's series had already been broadcast on SA television: Thunderbirds (as Redding Internasionaal and Dilailai), Stingray, and Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons (as Kaptein Skarlaken).
